Irsee Monastery

Porta patet, cor magis – the door is open, even more the heart. This is a well-known monk’s greeting with which pilgrims and guests were once welcomed to abbeys. At Irsee Monastery, we feel a close connection with this greeting.

Today, the tradition-steeped abbey complex of the former Imperial Abbey of Irsee houses the Irsee Monastery Swabian Conference and Educational Centre. Since it was opened in 1981, the centre has acquired – including at international level – a respected name for itself as an event centre among our guests from the fields of business, politics and science, associations, art and culture.

In the baroque atmosphere of the former Benedictine abbey – restored true-to-detail – you find 83 comfortable guest rooms as well as 15 individually equipped conference rooms of varying sizes. Equipped with comprehensive conference technology, the conference rooms create a both functional and festal setting for all forms of conference, from an intimate group room to several studios to a festal hall for symposiums and conferences offering space for 200 participants.

The physical wellbeing of guests is provided for by both the in-house restaurant and the kitchen specialised in conference catering, with breakfast, lunch and evening buffets. For special occasions, we are also pleased to offer you individually composed lunch and dinner menus.

Festal rooms – the ballroom in the former library, the auditory in what was once the natural history cabinet, the reception room or the chapter house – offer an exquisite setting for special occasions such as banquets, receptions or candlelit dinners. The head chef and the restaurant management are happy to advise you on the selection of festal menus or cold-warm buffets. The rustic abbey cellar in the abbey arches offer the chance for a cosy get-together in the evening. The sauna, billiards and table tennis provide relaxation to see out the conference.

With its guesthouses and artist’s studios in the direct surrounding area of the abbey and located in the foothills of the Alps, the small, idyllic market town of Irsee offers a favourable starting point for walks, hikes and trips into historic Swabia or into the Allgäu with its mountains, castles and lakes.

Enjoy the unique atmosphere of Irsee Monastery. Talk to us and tell us your wishes. You are welcome to use our building. Porta patet, cor magis. It is not just the doors of Irsee Monastery that are wide open to you.
