Irsee is the first abbey in our regions where thorough learning began to flourish, wrote the founder of the "Chur-Bavarian Academy of the Sciences" in the mid-18th century. To this day, we are pleased when our conference and educational centre becomes a place of encounters with history and literature, philosophy and psychology as well as contemporary art and music for guests and conference participants from the fields of business and politics, from associations and universities.
For instance, the Irsee Swabian Academy, the Swabian Art Summer, the literature competition "Irsee Pegasus", the "Pomona. Akadedmie zur Jahreswende" and the Training Institute of the Bavarian District Assembly have found their home at Irsee Monastery and contribute to the special flair of our centre throughout the year with their wide range of educational and cultural events.
After holding a festival for contemporary music – TONSPUREN. Musik entdecken in Irsee – from 2013 to 2015 and publishing Irsee Monastery Music of Renaissance – created under Abbot Carolus Andreae (1612 to 1627) – in Edition Ursin in 2014, in 2016/17 we are remembering the institution of the educational, conference and cultural centre of the district of Swabia 35 years ago and we celebrate 300 years of Irsee baroque music under padre Meinrad Spieß (1683 to 1761).
We are pleased if you are interested in our publications and would be delighted to meet you at our events at Irsee Monastery!
